You really feel a good haymaker to the neck. I liked the semi-destructible sets in the 'offline modes' too, it feels pretty good to piledrive an enemy's face into the ground so hard that the floor collapses. Pretty much everything you do here rewards cash prizes, and these can be used to buy new costume pieces which either look awesome or give a nice boost to various stats. It's just a shame that it's also where the most money is to be made. Not quite the vibe I was getting but yeah, the story mode is the weakest part of the game. The robot sidekick drives me mad, she just sort of hovers slightly above ground like an overweight bee - and she has all the personality of a vacuum cleaner. Something about an escaped robot and a Naruto refugee taking down a shady corporation. The camera was a pain, and the lock-on makes it difficult to hit enemies.Īnd the story makes absolutely no sense. You know what I didn't think was worth it? The campaign mode. So yeah, mastery is difficult but really worth it. Practice mode really helps get the epic 10-hit combos locked down - although they're much harder to pull off in practice - all it takes is a sidestep or block to mess it up. That's the beauty of the Tekken series though - it's easy to pick up and hammer the buttons for instant gratification, but mastery is more difficult. There are real strategies involved and I don't know about you, but I found getting to grips with these more advanced moves really let me play mind games with my opponents.įor sure. It's not just the characters though - mastering the subset moves, like blocks, parries and juggles is key to winning, especially in online battles. Mastering every character takes a looooong time, so for fans this is a real long-term investment. The crazy thing about all these characters is that they feel like individuals -not like a cut and paste of moves and styles from one to another. ![]() I think I counted 42 in total, including almost all of the Tekken 5 gang, as well as both the Bloodline Rebellion newbies. I think that's why I like the game so much - it is absolutely packed with playable characters. I sure would, but I'm well known for preferring quantity over quality. I'm not sure why - it's not as if they're losing out in some way - you'd think it would be a case of the more the merrier, wouldn't you? And no, we're not leet haxx0rz, NamcoBandai have, for the first time, released this head-punching beast on both the PS3 and 360.Īnd the PS3 fan boys aren't happy. Yes, we're playing Tekken 6 and yes, we're playing it on a 360. Eagle-eyed viewers will notice an immediate discrepancy with the things they've just seen.
